Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Regarding the Sale of Our CPA Firm
After more than 40 years of service, we are entering a new chapter. Below are answers to the most common questions clients may have about this transition.
1. Why are you selling the firm?
After many rewarding years serving our clients, I’ve decided it’s time to transition into retirement and ensure the firm’s long-term stability under new leadership.
2. Who is purchasing the firm?
The firm is being acquired by a trusted, well-established CPA practice, Garza Cummings Blocher LLC (“GCB”), that shares our commitment to personal service, professionalism, and client care. More details about the new ownership will be shared once the transition is finalized.
3. Will the staff remain the same?
Yes. Both of our existing team members will continue working with the new firm to help ensure a smooth and seamless transition for all clients.
4. Will I still be working with the same people?
In most cases, yes. You can continue to work with the same preparer or accountant you’ve always known and trusted.
5. Will my fees or billing change?
The new firm intends to keep pricing consistent with current rates. Any future adjustments will be communicated in advance.
6. What happens to my prior tax information and records?
All records and files will transfer securely to the new ownership. Your data will remain confidential and protected under the same professional and legal standards as before.
7. Do I need to sign any documents to continue service?
For any services being performed in 2025, no. For any services being performed in 2026, yes. The new firm will be sending out engagement letters for services being performed in 2026 during December 2025. We'll provide additional information on this in the coming weeks.
8. Will my tax return be prepared the same way as before?
The same great service you have experienced will continue. The delivery and receipt of information will be migrated to the new firm's systems and therefore you might experience a change in appearance, but the overall process will continue to be the same.
9. Will my contact information change?
Our main phone number and email address will continue to work during the transition. Any new contact information will be clearly communicated well in advance.
10. Will the office location remain the same?
No, our office location at 7920 Belt Line Road will be closing immediately, and all activity will take place at the new firm's office located at 4849 Greenville Ave, Suite 1460 Dallas, Texas 75206
11. What if I already have work in progress (returns, payroll, etc.)?
All ongoing work will be completed without interruption. The transition will not affect your deadlines or deliverables.
12. How will my data be protected during the transition?
We are following all professional and legal requirements for safeguarding sensitive information. No data will be shared outside the scope of licensed CPA professionals involved in the transition.
13. Can I continue using the same client portal or email system?
The client portal will remain operational through the end of 2025. However, your client portal access will transfer to the new firm's client management system later this year. You will receive instructions for accessing your files under the new firm's system in the coming weeks.
14. What if I prefer not to transfer to the new firm?
You are free to engage another CPA at any time. Upon written request, we will securely release your records to any successor accountant of your choice.
15. When will the transition take effect?
The firm transition is effective as of November 1st, 2025. System transitions will occur over the coming weeks, and all services will continue without interruption.
16. Will you still be involved after the sale?
Yes, for a limited time. I’ll remain available during the transition period to ensure a smooth handoff and to assist the new team with any client-specific questions.
17. What should I do next?
Nothing right now. You’ll receive a formal announcement with details about the new ownership and next steps soon. Our priority is to make this as simple and stress-free as possible for all clients.
